Discovered: Matt's first film job was one line in the romantic comedy Mystic Pizza. He went on to attend Harvard University but dropped out a few credits shy of graduating to pursue his acting career.
He moved to Los Angeles to join best friend Ben Affleck, and future stars Rory Cochrane and Matthew McConaughey.
Matt's more notable acting role came in the film, Geronimo with Gene Hackman and Jason Patric.
The role that showcased his acting talent came in 1996, playing a heroin addicted soldier in Courage Under Fire.

Resume: Matt and friend Ben Affleck, originally concocted a story about a CIA espionage thriller and a young math genius which they pitched around town. Receiving advice from writer/director/actor Rob Reiner and screenwriter William Goldman, the two changed the script around to focus on a young math genius from the wrong side of the tracks. This eventually became Good Will Hunting, which earned both Matt and Ben Affleck Oscars for Best Original Screenplay and put Matt's career into overdrive.
Since then Matt has gone on to star in several blockbuster hit movies including Saving Private Ryan (1998), Rounders (1998), Dogma (1999), The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999), Ocean's Eleven (2001), The Bourne Identity (2002), The Bourne Supremacy (2004), and Ocean's Twelve (2004).
Romance: Engaged to long-time girlfriend Luciana Barroso since September 5, 2005.
